After visiting with representatives from Blytheville Police department we, as a group, decided that due to safety concerns the “Cruising Chickasaw” parade has been postponed until further notice.
The Blytheville Chickasaws began their baseball season March 10 by falling at Valley View 18-0 in the first game and 15-0 in Game 2 of a 4A 3 Conference twinbill.
The Blytheville Lady Chickasaws (0-4) on March 10 lost at Valley View 20-0, 20-0 in a 4A 3 Conference doubleheader.
The Blytheville Chickasaws (26-7) on March 6 saw their season come to an end in the AAAA Tournament quarterfinals at Farmington with a 69-55 defeat to Magnolia.
The Blytheville Lady Chickasaws softball team opened its season March 5 with 19-0 and 23-0 setbacks at Corning in a nonconference varsity doubleheader.
The Blytheville Chickasaws (26-6) totally dominated Dardanelle 67-37 in the March 4 AAAA Tournament at Farmington, and advance to the March 6 quarterfinals against Magnolia at 5:30 p.m.
Statement regarding COVID-19 (Coronavirus)
Blytheville Public Schools is concerned about the spread of communicable disease. Of particular concern is a form of the Coronavirus known as COVID-19. As many of you are aware, COVID-19 has been diagnosed in multiple locations throughout the United States. At present, there are no known cases of COVID-19 within Mississippi County.
The CDC Emergency Operations Center is preparing specific guidance for schools that will be released shortly and will be shared on our website as soon as they become available. Blytheville Public Schools has a Pandemic Response Plan in place that would be followed in the event of any medical emergencies.
Blytheville Public Schools encourages the following practices to reduce the risk of spreading viral respiratory infections, including the flu, the common cold, and may help reduce the spread of COVID-19:
Students and faculty should stay home when they are sick.
Frequent hand washing with soap and water. If soap and water are not readily available, using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
Avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
Cover your mouth when coughing or sneezing.
Students and staff are encouraged to get a flu shot during the flu season.
Providing adequate supplies for good hygiene (soap, water, paper towels, hand sanitizer, etc).
In addition to these measures, our District also implements the following practices:
Daily cleaning and disinfection of facilities.
Registered nurses at every campus to assist students and or faculty who are not feeling well.

The Blytheville Chickasaws (25-6) absorbed a 64-60 defeat to Little Rock Mills in the Feb. 29 AAAA East Regional championship game at Valley View, and now advance to the AAAA Tournament in Farmington.
The Blytheville Chickasaws will face Little Rock Mills in the Feb. 29 AAAA East Regional title game at Valley View at 7:30 p.m.
The Blytheville Chickasaws (25-5) on Feb. 28 defeated the E-STEM Mets 58-48 in the AAAA East Regional semifinals at Valley View and move on to the Feb. 29 championship game.
The Blytheville Chickasaws (24-5) got past Pulaski Academy 50-46 in the Feb. 27 Northeast Regional Tournament quarterfinals and advance to the semifinal round Feb. 28 at Valley View at 5:30 p.m.
The No. 1 seed Blytheville Chickasaws (23-5) were upended by Brookland 51-46 in the 4A 3 Conference Tournament quarterfinals Feb. 20 at Batesville Southside, and will next play in next week’s Northeast Regional Tournament at Valley View.
Blytheville High School senior Charlie Groves is the male winner of the Daughters of the American Revolution's State Good Citizens Award and the first state winner ever for the local DAR Chapter. Groves will be honored at the March 21 DAR State Conference in Little Rock.
The Blytheville Lady Chickasaws (0-20) on Feb. 17 were defeated by Highland 51-38 in the first game of the 4A 3 Conference Tournament at Batesville Southside, ending their season.
The Blytheville Lady Chickasaws basketball team (0-14, 0-19) on Feb. 13 fell to Sikeston, Mo., 63-42 in the last-ever game to be played at the BHS Gym.
The fifth-seeded Blytheville High School ninth grade Junior Chickasaws (8-13) on Feb. 11 were edged by No. 4 Batesville Southside 42-40 in the first round of the 4A 3 Conference Tournament at Brookland, which ends their season.
